Help save our bay! I am swimming!
Last year I supported Gigi during her swim - I was her dedicated kayaker. I lost her right out of the gate because there were so many swimmers, my heart sank thinking I was never going to set eyes on her again they all looked the same! I searched high and low - as a mom I felt a bit panicked - what if she needs me, what if she wants her water or a rest?! When we were nearly to the middle of the Newport bridge, I spotted two swimmers (Gigi's friend Faith was swimming too) I paddled over to check them out - alas I found my baby! This year I decided to swim (will avoid that motherly panic).
What fun it has been, there is a whole world of socialization that goes on out in the water at random times of day at moorings and marks where we take a break to say hello to other swimmers, after a little chit chat we all swim on, never knowing if you will see that person again.
I have learned to breathe on both sides and to pace myself. I can't wait for the swim. I thank you in advance for contributing to the cause, it is a great way to save our bay!
