Welcome to My Personal Page - Elizabeth McCann
This is it — my 5th (and likely last!) Save The Bay Swim, and I'm swimming for a wonderful soul.
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Save The Bay's iconic Swim across Narragansett Bay and I couldn't imagine a more meaningful way to participate in this event than doing it as part of Team Jonathan.
Team Jonathan honors our dear friend and fellow open water swimmer, Jonathan Cooper, who passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2026, after suffering a heart attack while skiing. Jonathan was a BIG part of our swim pod funny, witty, warm, encouraging, and always game for an adventure swim.
I swim with this incredible group of humans in the open ocean about 3 times a week, and I can honestly say they're some of the kindest, most supportive people I've ever met. We cheer each other on, laugh, joke and show up for one another's lives, in and out of the water. Getting to swim this milestone anniversary in Jonathan's name, surrounded by this pod, is an honor.
Beyond the personal meaning, every dollar raised goes toward real, tangible work protecting Narragansett Bay. The organization advocates for clean water policy, fights pollution and supports habitat restoration projects like the recent release of seahorses to help repopulate the Bay. This swim isn't just about the physical part – swimming from Newport to Jamestown under the landmark Newport Bridge— it's about protecting it for the next 50 years.
My goal is just $450 and if a bunch of us chip in even a little, we'll get there together. Would you consider donating today?
Thank you for supporting me, Team Jonathan, and Narragansett Bay. These means more than words can say.
